On top of the world ! |
I didn't have much time to write, though the very thing that I was doing was writing (for the academic work of course) It has been a quite some time since my last post and many events occurred since then.
Our Rotaract Club hosted Chung Chi Rotaract Club from Hong Kong, where I as a Co-Dierctor (IU) had the joint responsibility of organizing the trip and giving them a fantastic experience in Sri Lanka( which in fact they had). It was such a great experience hosting 26 rotaractors from Hong Kong and it helped me learn a lot.
We did service projects in colour washing the school and teaching English to students at Kalugala Vidyalaya, Christmas celebrations at a children's home in Malsiripura and then a Gift a smile project at Cancer Hospital in Maharagama.

I must mention the support of the Club members specially my Co-Director(IU) Chethana. It was a truly amazing experience for all of us, need not mention that few members from both sides have bonded more than just as Rotaractors ;)

Head Table of 3rd committee (Kanchana, Dushinka and Me) |
Youth Model United Nations 2011 was the other major event that occurred in December 2011. I had my first experience at an MUN conference, that also being the vice-chairperson of the 3rd committee. It was such a success as the first ever event of that nature held for the youth of Sri Lanka. It will probably be 'THE' event for me as far as I am concerned as I met my soul mate, the delegate of France ;)

I also had a chance to make a visit to Jaffna and Mullativu , areas that were taken back in time due to the 30 year long war. However the post-war development projects were underway and it was a pleasure to see those areas trying to revive and make a strong statement that if not for war, Sri Lanka would have reached much far as a country.
I must also mention that Twitter has become an integral part of my life and 2000+ tweets without a smart device must be some achievement. ( Follow me @dulithanw )
