I feel OLD

I'm just home after watching a Sri Lanka Premier League match between Ruhuna Royals and Uthura Rudras which Ruhuna managed an easy win , courtesy Slinga Malinga , Finch and Gihan Rupasinghe. Now that's not the topic here.

This is a feeling that was lingering for sometime, which came to my notice following the Olympics 2012. Many athletes who competed at the much talked about London 2012 were younger than me, let's say younger than most of you who read this. When I posted this on Twitter, the immediate response came from O.D.C aka Joker , saying "dude, you are old" ( 'Bazinga')

It's more psychological than physical, I would say. At times I think, it's a good thing, may be I'm growing up, making mature decisions. Still I'm not perfect at it, may be just may be there's no perfection to be sought after.

More to come on this article....I'll update later

All what I did in December !

On top of the world !
I didn't have much time to write, though the very thing that I was doing was writing (for the academic work of course) It has been a quite some time since my last post and many events occurred since then.

Our Rotaract Club hosted Chung Chi Rotaract Club from Hong Kong, where I as a Co-Dierctor (IU) had the joint responsibility of organizing the trip and giving them a fantastic experience in Sri Lanka( which in fact they had). It was such a great experience hosting 26 rotaractors from Hong Kong and it helped me learn a lot.

We did service projects in colour washing the school and teaching English to students at Kalugala Vidyalaya, Christmas celebrations at a children's home in Malsiripura and then a Gift a smile project at Cancer Hospital in Maharagama.

At the Children's ward of the Cancer Hospital
There were lot of sight seeing as well, where we visited Sigiriya rock fortress, Sacred Temple of tooth relic and the beautiful hill country. Rotaractors had the chance of seeing the sun rise from the Knuckles mountain ranges. It was such a nice experience.

Arif ,Che and Me (the main organizers)

I must mention the support of the Club members specially my Co-Director(IU) Chethana. It was a truly amazing experience for all of us, need not mention that few members from both sides have bonded more than just as Rotaractors ;)

So much LOVE ;)

Youth Model United Nations 2011 was the other major event that occurred in December 2011. I had my first experience at an MUN conference, that also being the vice-chairperson of the 3rd committee. It was such a success as the first ever event of that nature held for the youth of Sri Lanka. It will probably be 'THE' event for me as far as I am concerned as I met my soul mate, the delegate of France ;)

I also had a chance to make a visit to Jaffna and Mullativu , areas that were taken back in time due to the 30 year long war. However the post-war development projects were underway and it was a pleasure to see those areas trying to revive and make a strong statement that if not for war, Sri Lanka would have reached much far as a country.

I must also mention that Twitter has become an integral part of my life and 2000+ tweets without a smart device must be some achievement.  ( Follow me @dulithanw )

Still Alive !!

It has been a really busy time with all the uni work, and having to allocate my time on family affairs as well. Sleepless nights, and screwing up a few stuff here and there, but still I managed somehow and luckily (or may be not) I'm still ALIVE!!!

Still I got some pretty busy weeks to come. Today was made a holiday by our non academic staff who still hope they'd get a pay hike (I seriously doubt, whether this has any use what so ever), and the token strike was bit of a relief on one hand with the amount of work to be done by this friday. (two days is more than enough). And if they decide to continue it for whatever the reason, I'd be really really mad at them, not because of their action, but not taking that decision early so that I could have finished my CIMA exams this November. (they clash with the uni exam time table and every effort we made to change it(uni exams) was just a waste of time. Only lesson I learnt there was , YOU JUST PLAY THE GAME THEIR WAY.) Anyway whatever happens I will take up the exams May 2012. (hopefully the world won't end that soon lol)

See you folks soon with another update, got lot more to tell you (just have a glimpse of it from the following photos). I must get started with my work, don't want to mess them up.

Extended Vacation

Even though the university was supposed to start on 23rd May, due to the strike of the lecturers, the vacation was extended. It is still unclear when it will start again.
Early part of the vacation was not at all a vacation for me as I had to  face Strategic Level exams (CIMA). In addition to that, I was the chairperson for Professionale 2011- Career Development Forum which was in line with the official careers fair of the university- Are You Ready? 2011.
Thus vacation for me, began after 26th May (after FS paper) and I had the opportunity to go on a trip to World's End in Hortan Plains with a bunch of my friends. It was a 'kick ass' trip where I had a narrow escape as well. We also went to the premier show of Kung-Fu Panda 2. All in all it is a good vacation after all.
Hence it is not over yet many more things are planned. We'll see how it goes. But for now I kind of miss uni life. *sigh*

Good friends Good Times

It has been a really great time for me due to many reasons and still some worries are also there. World Cup cricket is here and enjoyed every bit of it up to now, expecting a climax at the finals on 2nd April. Watching cricket matches live at RPS, sniping (by Rashiga Walallawita ;) ), dream world cup semi final for Murali in his last game at home, makes it up reasons for being overjoyed.

All of this was possible due to our one and only deyya (Kimal Wasalathilake) , who managed to grab tickets for the crunch matches played in Sri Lanka. Fun loving friends of Bokka , had a really great time.

However I'm still worried about my friend Akila, who met with an accident. I wish him speedy recovery and sincerely hope you will be back with us in no time.

21st B'day !!

People say many things about 21st b'day, you are barely legal to anything in any part of the world.(except criminal or civil offence :P). But how i see it?
Just another mile stone in life, where you have to make sure you choose the correct way to move forward.
A milestone that decides the future.
Sincerely hope this b'day turns out to be that. However i'm not going to let it go away without a party ;)
